These pictures are taken on Saturday, b e f o r e the horrendous snowstorm which came the next day.
We now have about one meter of snow over at Hagalund, which should be enough, but more snow is promised on Tuesday. LOL.
I decided to post some pictures of Morty today. I am having a flu ( not had one in over 2 years ),
and am enjoying Morty´s company as I´m writing.
The first picture ( 1. ) shows Morty " resting ". In the second ( 2. ) picture he is proudly presenting his toy, a doggy.
On his way ( 3. ) to the stable, but pausing ( 4. ) in hesitation, for a moment.
Today, I´m feeling better, and managed to do the stable chores as usual. Staying inside two days is stressing, when I am used to physical work.
If/ when you catch a cold, how do you manage the time being idle?

Hello Mette
Beautiful images of Monty. What a great companion to have. They know when we are unwell too.
Happy to hear you are on the mend and returning gradually to your schedule
I try and read, sleep, read and just remain quiet when getting over a cold/flu.
I wish you a speedy recovery
Helen xx
That photo of Morty presenting his toy is just adorable.
Sorry you've had a bug Mette. When I'm sick I grab a pile of books and settle back to read. I can easily lose myself in a good story.
Feel better soon!
Darla
I've got a sore throat too and feeling none too pleased about it :-( Just spent a small fortune at the drug store...
Morty is so absolutely precious with his toy dog!
I hope you feel better soon. Also I've been wondering how your ribs are doing?
Hello Morty, I would love to play tussel with you and your doggy friend...would you let me (laughing)?
What a fine silky coat he is such a handsome fellow.
Flu really drags you down...lots of fluids,Lemsips with honey, soups, rest, radio + books works for me.
Take care Mette,pats to Morty.Ida x
Wow, would I ever love to ski on that snow! :)
Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly. I read a lot when I have a cold, but if I have a bad headache I cannot read and find myself watching really bad TV or listening to music on my iPod. Like you, I have been very lucky the past few years and not come down with the flu, but now that I have written this, it's sure to hit me! Lots of people are sick right now, it seems! Drink lots of fluids and rest.
Mette, hope you're over that flu soon. The picture of Morty with his toy cracked me up...it's almost as big as he is!
Morty is a very beautiful dog - what a great profile too.
Sorry you have the flu. Don't overdue, it can come back worse. When I'm having a cold/flu, I read, watch a movie, try to sleep, and drink lots of a "tea" that I make with lemon, ginger, and cayenne pepper.
Feel better soon.
Mette I hope that you feel better soon. Morty looks very handsome and he seems to enjoy his stuffed toy :)
With all that snow I'd be inclined to cocoon inside and be lazy and keep warm by the fire.
Take care,
Hugs
Hostess
Morty looks so lovely against that white snow. Sorry to hear you are sick - I'm always amazed when I recover at how very different it feels.
Hope you are feeling 100% soon. Morty has a gorgeous coat and is displaying some excellent stuffed animal retrieval skills.
I give myself one solid day of complete rest. Warm socks, lots of sleep, and quantities of herb tea with lemon in it as well. Keep as warm as you can tending the horses, Mette, and don't over do it, so no relapse.
Helen, : ) Imo, a flat-coated retriever is the most beautiful dog there is!
Darla, Morty is very keen on the toy, which we call " koijja ". When I´m ill, I can´t read, sigh. Thank you.
Ana, are you able to go to work now? My ribs are very much ok.
Retrievers love to carry things.
You too, take care of yourself!
Ida, you´d have to negotiate with Morty about the doggy ; ).
True, a simple flu, can be really annoying. I´m drinking tea, listening to the radio and surfing in the net ; ).
Jacqueline, you are back! Did you have a nice vacation? Skiing, I have only done the cross country skiing, but not for years.
This flu causes headache, so no reading this time. Hopefully you will stay healthy, no viruses for your laptop either.
Susan, thank you. Yes, big boys need big toys ; ):
Kathy, : ). Trying hard to concentrate on doing nothing.
You are clever, Morty has received compliments especially for his head, it is " very masculine ", according to the professionals : ).
Leslie, thanks! Like I said in fall, I´d like to hibernate during the winter months, heh.
Lisa, : ). You are right, the flu catches one off guard, feels awful, but is quickly forgotten ( usually ).
Patricia, you are so sweet! Thank you.
I was " taking it easy " with the horses today. Luckily it is not cold outside right now.
And tea is perfect right now.
Well, Mette, where I live three feet of snow would be considered "cold outside." ;)
Morty has a doll! I love the pic of Morty on the path from the house. When I am feeling "under the weather", I do get up and drag around, but I don't push myself.
Patricia, heh, heh, your comment made me coughing ; )!
Terri, the doll maybe is an important substitute for Morty, having lost his real dog pal..
Wow, you still manage to do your things!
Hope you feel 100% better soon. Such lovely photos of Morty and how nice that he is looking after you. Animals are the best when you are not feeling well. In our family we have always referred to them as the "Fur nurse" ! X
Oh Morty is such a beauty. Life is never boring with dogs and you are lucky to have such a wonderful one. Sorry you aren't feeling well. When I'm under the weather I read, listen to music and drink tons of tea and lemon/honey drinks. I think hot, hot showers also help.
Your dog is a beauty. I don't have any pets but I admire others pets. He is gorgeous. When I have to stay in due to sickness it is not pretty. I get very impatient with everything and just want to hurry up and get well and have never found a way to entertain myself other than a little reading, writing, and surfing the net. You will be feeling like new soon.
Sarah, thank you for your concern. Yes, the furry nurses are so attentive; always there.
Sanda, Morty thanks ; ). Yes, a warm shower feels good, it refreshens. I did a pedicure too and was happy to have my family home during the weekend.
Angele, thanks: )! Maybe not being able to do anything " sensible " when sick, is as it is meant to be, so that you will have time concentrate on the healing?
Awww, Morty is the most beautiful dog! I wish I could reach into my computer screen and give him a nice scratch behind the ears. And the picture with him presenting his toy dog for play is just the cutest!!
As I'm sure you remember from when you had small children, at the moment, the way I would deal with a respiratory illness like flu/colds is to take a lot of medicine for my sinuses, cough, etc., because I just cannot really take a sick day (and thanks to the small child being around other small children, he and we get colds quite often! There is always something or other going around the school, but they don't seem to bother him too much.) Before I had a child, I used to hole up, drink lots of fluids (especially orange juice and tea) and eat very spicy Thai soup that cleared out my nose beautifully (purchased for me by my husband, of course, since I did not wish to go outside!) and of course, sleep. I think nothing cures something like this better than sleep.
So sorry to hear you're not feeling well. We've also had colds.
Morty looks so adorable with his doggy toy!
Susan T., Morty sends a bark your way ; )!
MTH, I am happy to read, that you like Morty´s looks too!!
Oh yes, I remember the times, when I could not afford to be ill..
I have been up and around the whole week, feeling almost ok, only the flu is not over yet. Luckily another weekend to rest.
Sorry, that I did not reply earlier, but now you have the latest news of the flu - still on ; )!
I am so sorry to have missed several of your posts Mette. I had to comment on this post as Morty is so adorable in these pictures... what a precious dog he is. I imagine he is a great comfort to you.
Flu is really draining, I do hope you are feeling better now and are having a restful weekend.
Thank you for your kind and supportive comments, which I very much value, along with your friendship xx
Abby, I completely understand you being occupied by Spotty, your mother and the "show business ".
No need for apologies.
I believe I know how worried you must be. My first horse suffered from arthritis too. Trotting was not his best gait, but he liked to gallop! Perhaps it was easier for him..
I value your personal contact and our friendship too : ).
Nice article, i appreciate for putting this together! "This is obviously one great post. Thanks for the valuable information and insights you have so provided here. Keep it up
