Yesterday, I bought myself a pair of jeans. I have been delaying this purchase on and on.
Maybe the huge amount of jeans available, has scared me. I mean - the variety i s huge!
I noticed, that we have as a new brand over here, the " Not your daughter´s jeans ( or something like that ). I took a look at them, and they looked so funny! Was it the high waist, I don´t know, but I put them aside. I feel puzzled.
For two years now, I have worn the so called " Boyfriend´s jeans ", but the jeans are a loose fit, and since I practically wear jeans all the time, I wanted a new pair.
As " 7 for all mankind ", is familiar to me from the past, I chose their classic skinny jeans.
The fit is perfect. Just the right " wash " for me; not too dark, not too light. And made in USA.
Somehow, lately, I have paid extra attention to where the piece of clothing ( or anything else ), is made in.
Many decent brands have their products manufactured all over the world. So confusing.
I´m snobbish, but I won´t buy something made in Romania, Turkey, etc.. Naturally I know, that maybe only the label might be attached in Italy, USA, while the product has been made somewhere else. But what can I do?
I am really pleased with my purchase. The price had been lowered, and I used my 30€ bonus coupons, I had received from the department store, so I nearly got the jeans for half their normal price!
Jeans are my basics. I build my outfit around them. Everyday ( nearly ) of the year. Jeans are my essentials.
What about you, what is the piece of clothing, you can´t live without?
If it is jeans, what is your favorite model, wash, brand?
Please share : )!!!

I LIVE in jeans. Always on the lookout for the "perfect" pair. Like you, I don't like the very dark wash, which is all over the place now. I like a medium wash, so I'm going to go and try these exact jeans on today. Are the legs very skinny? They don't look it in the photo, but curious.
Is it the classic straight leg, or the original skinny? No classic skinny on the website.
Kathy, no they are not leggings- skinny, Roxanne is the name!
Medium wash also, boot cut to lengthen my nonstandard leg length, nothing dramatic on the pockets. Dark wash doesn't look quite like jeans to me, and light wash looks too bleached (to me). Variety of different brands; Garnet Hill made my current favorites. Yours look well-made. The name of Not Your Daughter's Jeans has put me off, so I have never gotten close to them to see what they were like.
I wear sevens. What's wrong with Turkey?
I love jeans and prefer a dark or medium wash.
Your new jeans are the same brand that my daughter wears often...I've never tried them as I am so short and I do not think they make petites but I'l have to check that out.
Nice to get a bargain as well.
I love jeans even though I don't wear them as much in the heat of summer. My favorites change only because they change. It used to be button fly Levis...adored them. During the past few years I have bought Lucky jeans and I love them. Of course, I wait until the end of the year and get great deals on these. I don't wear skinny jeans, straight leg or bootcut.
I like your jeans...caongrats on the great buy!
xx
Jeans are basics for me too, and I couldn't imagine a wardrobe without them. I do think the USA has tighter standards with manufacturer claims about where something is made, but that doesn't mean all working conditions here are optimal either. Love the wash on your pair!
Those are attractive jeans. How about showing a photo of you wearing them?
Like Kathy, I live in jeans too. That's funny you didn't like the Not Your Daughter's Jeans. Those are my favorite, but mine don't have a high waist.
Mette: to answer your question from the previous post, yes, I'm discontinuing the current blog. I'll probably start another one focused on my grad studies. It will likely be too boring for my style friends to read :).
Also, we really would like to switch houses sometime if possible. Martin and I don't plan to travel for awhile though, need to save money after splurging on our big trip this year. I will keep in touch.
Tee heee have to be different...no longer wear jeans about a year ago just did not like them...so off to the charity shop with them.
Cannot say I have missed them. Ida
Nice jeans and I know from photo's you wear them well.
I might be the only non-jeans person here. I have never found a pair that fit comfortably, didn't matter my age or weight, just never fit. I own one pair I bought at Coldwater Creek a few years ago, bootcut with a bit of stretch. They are as close as I've come to fit but I notice I still don't wear them much.
Darla
I really like '7 for all mankind' jeans; I have three pairs and find they fit well and are comfortable to wear.
Sounds to me like you made an excellent purchase. I bet you won't be taking these back :)
Kathy, I hope you managed to find the jeans!
Patricia, I agree, jeans must look like jeans - the dark ones don´t, though they might look nice in some other way ( but I wanted to have jeans ).
Don´t you too find the quantity of brands ( or nots ) just exhausting?
Lisa, sevens= ok.
I believe, that the working conditions and the conditions in whole, in Turkey are sad. Not liking made in Bulgaria, Hungary, Estonia, etc. either ( ;
Leslie, yes, I remember, that you have recently bought new darker jeans.
The coupons were a treat from Stockmann ( department store ), as it is celebrating it´s 150 years anniversary this month/year.
MrsLJ, I understand wearing something lighter in high temperatures. Have you worn Levis 501´s, the classics?
Susan, first- so we both posted about basics today ; )!
I´d have a hard time choosing some other piece of clothing, which would get worn more than jeans.
The label on these says, that each pair ( maybe meaning, that they have been checked ), is made by hand!
Susan T, yes the pair of NMDJ´s had a high waist rise; perhaps that seemed odd to me. Also the sizing was complicated.
Although I understand why you are ending your blog, it still feels sad.
But, we will keep in touch !!!
Ida, I remembered, that you don´t wear jeans. Possibly that day will come for me too - but hopefully not soon!
Darla, there are other options too. Cargos have been
my favorites, and I have worn my riding pants, while doing this and that around and about ; )
Northmoon, perhaps I should buy another pair..
Good to hear, that you have been pleased with your jeans!!
I prefer dark wash jeans, bootcut and midrize.
I'm also in love with denim skirts, which is my basic wardrobe staple.
Congratulations, you choose well!
Here, in USA, everybody wears jeans at least once a week. When I moved here, I was strongly against jeans, but after a few years I realized that jeans are more versatile than black pants. Plus, life in suburbia is too casual for pants, people practically live in chinos or jeans.
I have so many favourites!
I love Seven but also J Brand, Citizens of Humanity and Paige.
NEXT direct also do great jeans at a nice price.

I wear jeans to work on "casual Friday" and all mine are Talbots, which fit me nicely. But I'd like to try some of the brands mentioned here. With a white shirt, high-heeled boots and a scarf it no longer feels casual!
Ana, darker jeans match your coloring, and IMO denim skirts fit best younger women.
Bootcut for you, and not too low ones for neither of us ( do the very low ones look good= feel comfortable on anyone= no ).
Piece de jour, thank you!
Jeans are really practical for everyday use. No wonder, we see everyone wearing them.
How cool would it be, if we had the knowledge to choose just the perfect fit for us!
SSG, thank you for the information. I´ll try to keep my eyes open : )!
Sanda, jeans are so easy to dress up or down, I agree.
I have yet to check the different brands. My older pair was very affordable, so high price is not always the sign of quality.
I wear jeans every day! 7's have been favorites for a few years along with Paige and Citizens of Humanity. I prefer a dark wash (have 2 pairs of black jeans) and at 5'2" need to almost always have them altered. NYDJ did not work for me either! Have a good we Mette!
Diane, are you satisfied with your jeans after they have been hemmed?
I just had my red pants altered. They were a bit too large and too long- imagine- I am 5´10"!
Now I fear, that the shortening of them will show, as I myself immediately notice when people have had their jeans shortened. It shows.
Btw, have you tried the petite sizes, the ones, Une Femme buys?
I usually only have my jeans altered at my wonderful Italian tailor. Although the last pair I bought came from Nordstrom and included hemming. If there is a special hem, that can be reattached so there is no "telltale" different stitching, and the only jeans that are truly difficult to alter (imo) are flares because of the proportions. But I don't like those because of my proportions! Have tried on a few "petite" jeans, but didn't really like the fit. I'll have to look over & see which brand une femme likes as I could use a new pair! Thanks Mette!
Diane, I think, that it is the changed proportions, that catch my eye, when I see shortened jeans.
It is just, that some models are meant to be of some certain length.
I really wish, that there were totally different models meant for petite women!
