FASHION / Shirt

This is my only shirt. It matches perfectly with the coloring of our nature outside. It matches my mood.
The shirt has a divided scenery pattern in white and grayish black. A shirt in 100% cotton, simple, with a modest, non-pointy collar, somewhat shaped in its lines.
It can be worn over a skirt or pants, or loosely tucked inside them.

I like to belt it with croc, as the colors match. Naturally my everyday crocodile bag gets carried along.
A shirt is not a typical piece of clothing for me. I dislike the " strictness " of a shirt.
I dislike sharp collars.
However, the collar on this shirt, settles smoothly and, and with ease, when I leave the top buttons unbuttoned.

This shirt is from the spring´s new collections, but the belt was bought on a discount, already a year ago. Both from one of the small shops here in Helsinki, which I visit occasionally. Both from the same brand.

The sales are still going on, but some few pieces for the next season can already be found.
Have you set your eyes on anything new yet?

P.S. As a reminder, all the clothes and accessories featured on my blog, don´t end up in my possession.

P.S.S. pve-design, thank you for joining as a follower of my blog. I just took a quick look at your blog, and I see everything beautiful there. I´ll be back asap : )!

That shirt looks fabulous on you Mette and I love the subtle colouring... And cannot believe how much snow you have from your previous post. Hope the fridge got restocked for the weekend :-) -here we had temperatures of 34 degrees - am boiling!! XX

I tend not to wear shirts as I find them uncomfortable. Although your shirt does look a soft and comfortable fabric. It looks great on you, especially with the skirt and belt you have chosen. The pattern is very unusual and the colourway is perfect for it.
It is an item I would walk straight past in a shop, but looks great pulled together as part of an outfit. Of course you have a good eye for this Mette. If we lived near each other, I would definitely take you shopping with me :)

see you there! kirjoitti...

I like the interesting print. It does indeed go with the belt too.

The pattern is almost a piece of art in its self..touch of the Constable came to mind..looks like silk..

Though my wardrobe is pared down from a massive clutter clearance due to house move have no plans for more items (a gel can change her mind though tee hee!)

I am considering a 'Louis Ghost'dining chair 15% 0ff at Heal's...hb says it looks uncomfortable...Mette or followers' have you this chair?? Ida

I love love the shirt! It's perfect, and not just a shirt, a piece of art. It will work with so many things, and worn in different ways also. Great find.

Will you please take me shopping? I am useless at it. I bought nine garments two weeks ago, took five back and have yet to wear a single new item! Shirts are too structured for my liking but the odd one finds its way into my wardrobe.

So incredibly elegant.

I feel the same way about shirts now, they seem all business to me. But the artistry of yours changes that and it partners nicely with the croc.

It does seem a lovely shirt for winter, when even the mid-day light carries the long shadows of evening.

I think retailers know spring clothes seem that much more appealing right now. I am still planning what to mix in for spring, which is really half the fun.

That shirt speaks to me!
It's lovely and has enough interest to mix well with blacks and greys which I love.

You look very trim and chic. I can see you and your husband out for a romantic dinner with you so attired :)

Lovely blouse...will you keep it? ;)

I like shirts a lot but cannot wear them tucked in - my hips are uneven and one side is always creeping out.

To ida: We have a friend in London who has two of the Philippe Starck Ghost chairs in his art gallery. I have always wanted one and asked him if they were comfortable (I live in California and have only seen the photos from his gallery). He said :"Remarkably so." Please note he is over 6-feet-tall and an amateur rugby player...obviously the chairs are very sturdy as well :)

Sarah, : )- We are going to have another load of snow this evening and next night. I´d gladly exchange places with you right now.

Abby, and then there is the ironing of the shirts..So glad you like this one though, yes the pattern is unusual, but it is not overpowering.
I enjoy going to stores that sell horse stuff. `Bucas´rugs have a perfect fit for our horses. What are your favorites?

Darla, nowadays it is " allowed " to mix different patterns, as long as the result makes sense ; ).

Ida, the cotton is extra soft, and yes, we are allowed to change our mind - anytime.
The chair you mentioned, is very familiar to me, but I have not sat on one. What color do you have in mind? One chair or more? As they are shiny, each scratch shows, but maybe that would not be a problem for you?

Kathy, : )- btw, T took a look at these pictures, and said, that he won´t say anything ; ). Men. Women.

Toffeeapple, shopping is something I hate doing. I have to tell you ( the others already know it ), I never go shopping; I just " happen " to find something, I get buyer´s remorse, I wheel and deal with my stuff, until I am all worn out. And each time I buy something in, I remove ( sell ) something out. I am hasty, impatient and when I have set my mind on something I want, I just m u s t have it. I make my purchases in no time ; ). I´m horrible.

Lisa, such a nice compliment : ).

Patricia, you are artistic yourself, you got the idea straight, I´m impressed.
I wish I had some of your patience. I can do the planning, but can´t wait.

Leslie, yes, we like same colors, and you are so sweet in your comments.
A romantic dinner? There never is time for one (;

J.W., will I keep it? Just when I thought that I had revealed all about myself to Toffeeapple.
This time I promise to at least to try to keep it. The collar is small, which is a + : )!

This shirt is just perfect on you, and it insinuates itself so well into your wardrobe. You have a discerning eye.

metscan kirjoitti...

Susan G, you are a very sharp observer, you notice all the small things - I´m impressed: ).

MTH kirjoitti...

Mette, that is a beautiful shirt. It reminds me a little bit of some famous Chinese paintings!

ida kirjoitti...

The scratches would put me off buying them...but the PS arm less Ghost claim they are scratch proof...I would only have the clear chairs...maybe I will just try just one !!

JW thank you for the feedback...they sure must be robust...rugby player my HB is not but over 6ft he is. Think the idea of a rugger player sitting on one has helped convince him. Ida

Lovely. It looks like it could also be worn as a jacket.
The print is stunning and very modern.

Thank-you for your kind comment, the wallpaper is from "paper boy wallpaper" UK - perhaps you can search and find it there.

You are an excellent editor, selecting the exact pieces you love, nothing more. This one is beautiful and seems perfect for you, your style, your life. Good job!

Terri kirjoitti...

I am curious about this "strictness" that shirts make you feel. I know that in the classroom, I really like a crisp, cotton blouse. When I wear them to teach, I frequently roll the cuffs up in the style of working men.

This is a beautiful blouse.

Jacqueline kirjoitti...

Fantastic shirt! It's like wearing a painting! Although from the first photo, you can't really tell right away, which is what makes it so great.
I know what you mean about shirts not being the most comfortable things. I have resigned myself to wearing them, as they kind of go with my job (suit and crisp shirt under it look the most professional for what I do). While I love the look, comfort can be an issue. I have found a few brands that work for me. I think this shirt will be excellent with so many of your clothes.

My Spotty Pony kirjoitti...

The RDA centre buys all the rugs at a discount for the horses. Spotty has a rug made by Masta. I will visit the Bucas website as like you, I enjoy looking at horse stuff ;)

metscan kirjoitti...

MTH, thank you. I must look at the fabric more closely myself.

Ida, the Bubus are also by PS. I have had the clear one, I also have had PS armless clear chairs. They don´t scratch easily, but like glass tables, they need continuous wiping to look their best. I do think, that in your home they will be well taken care of.

pve, thank you for commenting. I liked the fabric on this shirt because it was so different to what usually is seen, and- perhaps because it reminds me of our scenery right now ; ).

Susan T, : ). Now, I only have to force myself to wear what I have.

Terri, it is the collar, the pointy ends. I don´t like to button up, gives me a chocking feeling. There is also a masculine feel in many shirts, which turns me off..

Jacqueline, at work, a shirt under the jacket, is almost a must. Fortunate for you, that you have found brands, which suit your needs.

Abby, I know the Masta brand too, I have had one of those. Pikeur or Eurostar riding pants are " just perfect ". Kieffer or Passier for leather stuff and Roeckl gloves. Just to mention a few brands I have liked. Oh, and the yellow Shire wool blanket is a m u s t !

sisty kirjoitti...

The shirt is just beautiful. The pattern has a depth and moodiness that suits you -- and I mean that in a very good way!

Angele Style kirjoitti...

The way you have styled this shirt definitely needs to be seen. If not with your husband out to dinner you could be in a photo for French Vogue. A beautiful example of how to look like a vision of elegance.

metscan kirjoitti...

sisty, thank you: )!

metscan kirjoitti...

Angele Style, quite a statement, I don´t know what to say ; )- but thanks!
