The blogs I follow or visit, show new clothes for all the seasons. Clothes for work, travel and parties.
I seldom see clothes people ordinarily wear at home. Yet most of us, spend quite many hours at home.
My blog makes no exception.
I have shown pictures I " might " wear for some event, clothes, I have actually worn for some occasions, but they are clothes, I quickly remove once at home.
My everyday uniform at home has been: jeans/ cargos and a long sleeved T-shirt. Boring.
I long for some change.
What about an angora/wool tulip shaped sweater/dress, with a fleece lining and pockets - just for fun - on the sides?
Yes, I know, mine is quite short, but I wear it with opaque 80 Wolford tights, and I am at home.
I like the revealing neckline, as I have nothing to hide ; ).
I could imagine throwing my ankle length coat over this outfit, and wear it informally elsewhere as well.
I don´t like layering, and wearing this " oversized " knit, I can avoid it.
What about you, what is your comfort wear? What do you wear at home? What would you wish to wear?
Please share your secrets : )!!
P.S. For clarification, the clothes and accessories shown and featured on my blog, don´t necessarily all not end up in my possession.

My every day wear is dark skinny jeans, basic T-shirts in white, black or grey, ballet flats and my hair in a ponytail. Simple!
I like to wear knits at home - a stretch wrap dress with tights and Birkenstocks if I'm by myself. Finding really comfortable tights is crucial!
Having said that, I'm now wearing awful jeggins with holes in as I've just bleached the kitchen floor! More cleaning to do and husband in New York - I think I might stay like this today LOL! xxx
Living in a warm climate most of the year, I wear linen skirts and tee shirts when at home. Some days I will wear my yoga wear all day, if I am home and not going out.
You are so right when you say we pay more attention to clothing for special occasions and going out.
I do like this dress you feature it has pazzazz
Helenxx
Oh my gosh if you are comfortable in that dress OF COURSE you should wear it at home. I tend towards the Full Sloven in my house.
Helen, actually I feel comfortable in my riding pants ( tights under naturally ) half the day.
And you snatched just the point of my post.
Since we spend s o much time at home, why don´t we pay more attention to what we are wearing.
But, maybe jeans and T-shirt are the most comfortable, and the most suitable clothes for home surroundings..
Marcela, your choice is the classic. Would you like to wear something else?
Mrs.Exeter, working clothes can be whatever ; ). Good to hear someone wearing a dress at home, as most of us are stuck with pants !
It's rare that I don't go out at all. So jeans, sweater, T-shirt and necklace or scarf. Some very old slip on Born sandals while I am in the house.
But on spring days I am working in the yard (garden), then old T, work gloves, sweatshirt and old jeans tucked into my husband's rubber boots, for the muddy slope. Very elegant ;)
Your outfit looks youthful and comfortable. I have a goal of wearing my skirts more, but haven't achieved it yet.
You look great and so comfortable Mette. Jeans/cargos and a tee are my usual. I try to buy items with a bit of stretch to them. I'm afraid I'm hard on my at home wear, getting grease spots, or bleach or paint on myself so I admit I sometimes look sort of scruffy.
Darla
WOW! That sure opened my eyes as the first thing I saw on my computer this morning! I like your comment about having "nothing to hide." :)
At the moment I am wearing pants in a camouflage print that are one size too large, a white T-shirt and a pair of “Mr” JW’s white athletic socks. Stylish, eh? I'll change before I leave the house...
Jeans and a white tank with cashmere is my at home uniform.
I do like that look on you mette.
I'm like Lisa, "Full Sloven" ~ but that outfit looks too great for you to save it just for home!
I don't love layering either, but in LA, it's a necessity. The day can start out at 40 degrees, and end up at 80.
I'm endlessly taking off and putting back on the layers.
Maybe ok for lounging around but not for house work.
Good point Mette no one mentions 'house clothes'....mine long sleeved tee, pants, socks + cardigan or v necked jumper.....will wear the same to pop to shops just add Barbour & boots, gloves, pashmina easy pisey..maybe lazy!! Ida
If I had your lovely long slender legs then I would wear your outfit all the time :) Sadly I don't, so I cover them up with jeans in the house when I am working, and throw a warm sweater on top.
Thank you for your kind comments Mette. I have left you a reply on my post. x
I wish to wear what you are wearing...but I usually wear jeans and tees, sort of like Marcela does... xx
Patricia, at this time of the year, I try to concentrate my comings and goings, due to the weather and living in the countryside.
Therefore, coming inside, is like " after skiing " for me; perhaps dressing into something comfortable.
Summers are different.
I have no ordinary dresses (;
Darla, thank you.
When doing something, I dress like you at home. But at times, I´d wish to do simply nothing..
J.W., Hahaa. When I wrote, that I have nothing to hide, I was referring to the broad neckline, and that there is no fear, that something might " pop out ", as I am small breasted, so funny..
No need to change, I think your clothes are cute, but don´t wear Mr. J.W.´s athletic shoes!
Lisa, I refuse to believe your " home look ", without seeing it with my own eyes ; ).
Leslie, I´m happy that you are able to use your cashmeres as a home uniform, as they feel so wonderful on. I´m saving mine for special occasions, and as I have deluttered, I only have the good ones left.
Kathy, I´m sure you see the contradiction we people have with the way we want our interiors to be like, and how we actually live in these interiors.
Sometimes, I feel being not in sync with my own home. Realizing this, bothers me.
It is ok for all of us to have nice " home clothes " too.
For records, my husband wears the same clothes all the time, though he has triples of each.
Ida, you are right.
But the house is a man´s ( woman´s ) castle. There has to be time for lounging too, every day.
You seem to have solved your clothes problem sensibly!!
Yes, I understood what you didn't have to hide! ;)
Ouch! who wants to be sensible...well that has jolted me out of my complacency.....off to find my taffeta Elm trouser's + a slinky top teeee heee Ida
love the sweater dress with the tights. The v neck is a bit deep for me, not because of the amount of exposed skin but because I'd catch cold in a second were I to wear something like this.
My home wear consists of a classic yoga/khaki pants and t-shirts with a fleece in the winter and capris or light jersey dresses in the summer.
I need to sew some more Thai fishermens' pants, those were fun to wear too :-)
Funny coincidence, as I was just thinking that I wear pretty much the same thing every weekend: black cargo pants, white long sleeved t-shirt, and a black down vest. If it's cold, I'll put on a black cashmere sweater under the vest. Shoes are either Danskos or my 10 year old Tod's ankle boots.
I think of this as my dog-walking outfit, as I put treats in one pocket of the vest, pick-up bags in the other, and my wallet in a zippered pocket.
I will only go out to walk the dog in this outfit, and maybe to the drycleaners/grocery store.
For real stay-at-home wear, it's a pair of flannel drawstring pajama bottoms, and a black scoop neck t-shirt. No bra, (even though I definitely need one to leave the house!).
What fun to see you in something so different. I really like the neckline on the dress/tunic and the tights, although leggings might have worked as well.
Mette, this outfit surprised me! I thought you were always dressed elegantly or dressed for outdoors time with your furry creatures. Your indoor dress looks comfortable, yes, but I agree with others, you could wear this out if you wanted to.
I am really loving Lisa's expression - "Full Sloven." I can't stop laughing. That would be me for sure when I am not leaving the house! And...on days like today when it's snowing/freezing rain on my way home and I don't have to go anywhere in the evening I take off my suit and put on my pyjamas!
I forgot this little tidbit. Now that I've become softer in general, especially around the middle, I buy my tights in the largest size available. They still fit fine, since the stretch goes two ways, and you don't get that horrible pinching around the waist.
Abby, having seen your picture, I´m sure you could wear a similar dress/ sweater too. Yes you could : )!
There is housework at home, and while on that, I´d wear the uniform ( pants+T ).
But for " just hanging around ", it would be nice to wear something else.
IMO, this is especially important for women, who work at/from home. Important for the psyche.
Thank you for Your nice replies Abby: )!
MrsLJ, we all wear the jeans+ T combination. It is an easy choice.
Actually the markets lack a " At home " clothes collection.
Maybe I was raised in the old-fashioned way, which meant, that there were specific clothes for school, parties, which were to be changed and set aside, when at home. Then there were home clothes.
During the years, I have noticed, that youngsters wear the same outfit all day long.
Maybe I am only longing for the past times with my desire of home clothes..
Ana, thanks. You dress sensibly at home and have a very different way of dressing, when you are " going out ".
Btw, I might wear a tank top or a scarf tucked inside the sweater, if I feel cold. The sweater in itself is really warm.
J.W., : ).
Ida, yes- keep your style!
sisty, you really have separate clothes for different occasions. Your dog walking outfit is practical - black, dirt does not show easily, and at home you wear comfortable clothes. So true about the tights too.
Terri, I could imagine this looking good on you too.
Leggings, yes, though I have never felt them " mine ".
Susan T, yes, surprising indeed. I did mention in my text, that I would not mind wearing the sweater/ dress off home either, but I´d wear a long coat over it, while moving from one place to another, and then I´d take my shoes along in a separate bag.
Jacqueline, the climate, you described, certainly favors staying inside in comfy clothes ; )!
